Nelson takes official visit to A&M

Dallas Skyline linebacker Corey Nelson was the first member of the class of 2010 to be offered by Texas A&M head coach Mike Sherman in early 2008. Sherman took a personal interest in the recruiting of the 6 foot 1, 210 pound Nelson and it paid off when the Aggies garnered a commitment from Nelson this past summer on an unofficial visit to A&M. It was a huge coup for the A&M coaching staff since Nelson had offers from virtually every school in the country.

As a result, it was appropriate that Nelson (along with Skyline teammate [db]Domonique Patterson) was one of the first of A&M's commitments in the 2010 class to take an official visit to A&M this past weekend. The timing worked out well for Nelson not just because the Raiders had a game last Thursday night rather than on a Friday (thus giving Nelson more time to be on the A&M campus) but also because Nelson got an opportunity to see A&M players and coaches prepare for their game with Iowa State this past Saturday.

The 6-foot, 210-pound Rivals.com four-star prospect committed to Texas A&M over scholarship offers from Michigan, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, UCLA, LSU, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
