Thompson will visit Ann Arbor
Toledo (Ohio) Central Catholic junior safety Jayme Thompson will take in Michigan Stadium for the first time this weekend when he visits Ann Arbor for the Wolverines' game against Purdue. He's already familiar with Michigan's program, having grown up a fan of the maize-and-blue.
Michigan's coaching staff has been showing interest in the big free safety prospect. At 6-2, 182 pounds, he has impressive size for the defensive backfield. He's not just a big prospect, though - he can still run. Thompson has been timed at 4.5 seconds flat in the 40-yard dash.
An offer isn't on the table yet for the Buckeye State star, however. The Wolverines are holding off until after the season, when they can evaluate his entire junior year.
Before he visits Michigan on Saturday, Thompson will try to take care of business on the field Friday night. Toledo Central Catholic will face a tough opponent in Toledo Whitmer. The Panthers boast 2012 Michigan commit Chris Wormley, and should be a tough test for the Fighting Irish.
Toledo Central Catholic has a chance to capture a Three Rivers Athletic Conference championship with a win against Whitmer. With a team short on seniors, that's quite an accomplishment.
It's a big weekend for Thompson, both on the field and on the sidelines.
