Little Cypress Mauriceville's [db]Alex Sezer[/db] was an under the radar prospect until a few days ago when he ran a 4.4 forty at a Texas A&M camp. Now, he's received an offer from the A&M staff and he's coming to College Station Saturday morning to check out the A&M campus. We talked to him tonight and got an insight into why he's come out of nowhere as a prospect and what are A&M's chances of landing him.

Q: Texas A&M offered you as a cornerback, right?

A: Yes sir.

Q: What positions do you play in high school?

A: Running back and cornerback. My coaches wanted me focused more on offense though.

Q: What were your statistics last year?

A: I had 560 yards rushing and 100 and something receiving. I also had about 200 yards from returns. I played in only five or six games due to a sprain. I have been on the varsity two years and next year will be three years.

Q: Are you getting attention from anyone else?

A: My coach said that a lot of schools have been calling me. I am also getting lots of attention for track. Tulane, Louisiana Lafayette, and all of the Ivy League schools have been recruiting me for football. Iowa was recruiting in football season and then the recruiter left. A bunch others are starting to notice since Sunday like Louisiana Tech and Texas State.

Q: Who have u been talking to at A&M?

A: Coach Wallerstedt. He said that they are really excited and the other coaches said they wanted to make me an Aggie at the camp.

Q: Who else did you talk to?

A: Coach McKinney, coach Yates, and coach Sumlin. I talked to coach Sumlin after the forty and he said that I had great speed and he was looking forward to my performance. Coach Yates was basically coaching me up and he said I had good speed and explosion.

Q: So you worked at cornerback at the camp?

A: Yes sir. I did pretty well. They were very impressed at my raw talent. I picked off the ball a couple of times.

Q: What do you want to do while you are at A&M tomorrow?

A: Get a feel for the staff and their goals for the program and where I fit into that.
I am going with my dad.

Q: Are you thinking about committing?

A: I'm not sure, it all transpired so fast. My dad thinks it is a great opportunity, but he doesn't want to rush.

Q: Are you kind of overwhelmed right now?

A: It happened so fast and I'm still trying to digest it. It's been an adventure.

Q: Can you graduate in December?

A: Yes sir.
