Stab, I am really sorry for your diagnosis. I started down a similar road 2 years ago. It's not a particularly pleasant experience but I hope you find as I have that there are positives to it. Just as you have already experienced here the outpouring of love will be incredible. And I hope that you will experience the love of God for you. Speak to him and he will comfort you through this. It is amazing but I can say this has actually been a blessing to me. You and your family will be in my prayers. God bless you and keep you.

Stab, I remember reading in Consumer Reports a couple of years ago about how much more successful top treatment centers are than regional ones. My wife's aunt had just lost her battle with bone marrow cancer, and I couldn't help but wonder what her results would have been if she had gone to MDA instead of getting treated in Oklahoma.

I don't know how any of this works, or what to expect, but I don't plan on committing to anything until we exhaust every resource possible.

I am actually tearing up while I type this. My mom called and told me the news today at work and I just sat there, kinda empty and numb for several minutes. I have known Cody and his family for 20+ years. You wont meet a better bunch of people. And although I have not seen Cody in some time, I know he is strong and he is a scrapper. The outpour of support for him is just insane. The Aggie connection is crazy strong. Keep sending prayers his way, he will make it through. I can't imagine what I would do if I got the same news he got or what I would tell my 7 yr old daughter. Bad things happen to good people.

Hang in there Cody, stay strong brother.

Thanks again for the out-pouring of support, I've been pretty blown away. My appointment with the referred Oncologist here in SA is Tuesday, after that I'll take whatever answers/details I get and keep moving forward. The number of times I've heard MD Anderson mentioned has really grabbed our attention and we already have friends/family connected in the field starting to probe in that direction. I'm clueless how it all works though, but I know if it's possible I would like MD Anderson there from the start. That's honestly the hardest part for me right now is the fact that I've received very few answers/details and I really don't know what lies ahead.

The next step is Tuesday though, so I'm just going to focus on that and go from there.

Thank you all, at times like these you realize there is nothing in this world quite like the Aggie Family.

Stab, whatever the prognosis, don't give up. My 73 year old father started chemo in March for a different kind of cancer, and he is kicking cancer's butt right now. I have no doubt you will as well.

...Cody, I just had a close friend that is on the road to recovery from a rare malignant GIST tumor found last fall on his stomach wall...he has been in treatment at MD Anderson...chemo pill for 9 months and surgery 5 weeks ago...he is clean with only quarterly checkups to follow...if you have a way to get there, the medical care is awesome....

...the Lord's desire is written in 3 John 2 “Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along”...also there is God's word in Jeremiah 30:17 “ But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds declares the LORD.” ...

...stay strong, I am here in SA if there is anything I can do...

My family has a close friend who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 mantle cell lymphoma, which is extremely rare and agressive. After a trip to MD Anderson, it seems like they may have it beaten.

Hang in there, pal. There are good doctors down there in Houston who know what they are doing.

make sure you talk to the people at anderson before you do anything in the way of treatment in SA.

for some reason, they have a firm grace period on treating people that have had treatment elsewhere.

my dad went through that when he got lung cancer, and then we were afraid to just wait without getting any treatment at all.

just an fyi.
