Hopefully Sherman is like the link. Promising but Frustrating at first. Give it some time and some internal modifications and things start to work out.
If Sherman doesn't reach 8 wins it should be the beginning of the end. David's right, put up or shut up, the schedule should warrant 8 wins before we even look at the bowl opponent. If not, dead coach walking through next year.
I've been a supporter, but I'm tired of excuses. I'm sick of blow out losses (and hopefully those are a thing of the past - we'll see in November.) I'm sick of tv ineptitude.

Whatever... Sherman gives access to the bigMONEYags, says all the right things to those guys, and is endorsed by Slocs. He ain't going nowhere fast, and no hate filled vitriolic letter from some dude with a name like The Dav is going to change that EVER!

I'm sorry, Dave, but your pieces, to me, are generally the biggest piles of steaming crap I've seen. I know others feel differently, but it's my opinion. Maybe it's your writing style, maybe it's the content, maybe I'm just too much of a homer to put down my maroon kool-aid, but I'd be fine if you never wrote a piece again.
I'm sure I'll be called out for this, but I really don't give a crap anymore. This site has been in a negative downward spiral for some time now, and now I've got to read opinion pieces from the mods with the same spin. If I want to read this crap, I'll ask Doug Fu for his opinion on the state of the program. I'm sure there are others that feel this way as well.

he's just catering to the typical poster around here. you know, the ones that start 3 posts a day with "if we lose the XXX game, will sherman be fired" and "if our final record is XX-XX, will sherman be fired". that guy. i know that nobody around here cares, but the absolute best thing would be for sherman and staff to figure it out and produce a winner. i've lived through the "change coaches" carousel for 10 years now, and it sucks.
hoping we lose so that we'll change coaches is tired. so, sherman, figure it out...

The numbers make a strong case in support of the argument, but the whole seven year contract/lack of urgency thing just doesn't work. unless you really believe this guy intended to pull a fast one by negotiating a sweetheart deal with no intention to actually work to deliver results, then this line of thought can't work. he's trying and he cares. whether he's the right guy at for the moment is the real issue.

His record says it all. Sherman was putting all his eggs in one back for the '10 season, just like Fran did, and he is 3-2 with both losses coming on our only TV games. How can anyone still be in this guy's corner?! People within A&M need to be writing pieces like this. Everything Sherman has done to this point is unacceptable. We should win tomorrow, so what does it really prove if we do? All it does it put him one W closer to .500 record.

You know, I don't know that anything The Dav is saying is wrong. I can see how David and Passwaters articles rub some people wrong.
Their writing much more opinionated and editorial than what AY has produced in the past. They both are much more vocal in their displeasure of the program, but we are used to Tarp not offering an opinion on anything besides WW2 movies.
Not saying either is right or wrong. Just an observation.

This site is so negative that in the 8+ years I've been a member, the average AY pre-season prediction has exceeded the actual final season record in every single season, with the possible exception of Fran's 9-4 campaign. In other words, the general consensus on here is more optimistic than reality, and in most years by a significant margin. Any pessimism on here is more than warranted.

All of us NON 2%'ers have been saying this since Fran's 3rd year. The fact is, it DOES NOT MATTER, what we think, it MATTERS what Byrne thinks.
He's the one accepting mediocrity. Now, if I were in his shoes I would NOT have fired Sherm yet. I WOULD however, give him Dav's sentiments in this great article. Maybe Byrne has, but it would be nice to at least get a sense of it somewhere.
It's time to win or get out. Sherm should expect 7-8 wins this season. If he gets 6 or less, he ought to do the right thing and resign on his own. I'd consider (with others as well) as giving DeRuyter a chance at running the show. He's GOT the mentality of No Holds Barred that great coaches these days have to have.

In response to the smart ass reply earlier about a "must-win" game.
Losing on the road to Okie State is ok (somewhat acceptable). Losing on the road to top-15 ranked Arkansas is ok. Losing at home to Mizzou would not be acceptable, even if they're ranked. This is Year 3. This guy needs to win or GTFO of Aggieland. Panic-button will be hit by more than 50% of fans if we lose Saturday. I will have had my fill of Mr. Sherman along with most people on this board.
