Nance taking his time in recruiting
Euless (Texas) Trinity linebacker Brian Nance says he has been taking it easy lately. The 6-3, 210-pound linebacker did no such thing in 2010 when he recorded 174 tackles, three sacks, and four INTs.
He currently holds offers from Baylor, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and USC, and is receiving serious interest from the likes of Oregon and Arkansas. He is not visiting anywhere right now, but he has received junior day invitations from schools Oklahoma, Arkansas, Oklahoma St., and LSU.
"I'm not visiting anywhere. I'm just sitting back and enjoying it," Nance said.
In the past he has named a few favorites like Oklahoma and USC, but he is currently keeping his options open.
"I don't have favorites right now. I'm just trying to see where I fit in. I'm trying to see where I can spend my four years at and get my education."
One school he has mentioned in the past are the Texas Longhorns, but he says he has not heard much lately.
"I talked to Texas at the beginning of the season, but ever since then I haven't heard much from them," Nance said.
For now his focus is on preparing for the 2011 season. He is currently going through offseason workouts and trying to get everything back to 100-percent.
"I have a slight ACL tear. It was not torn fully so I could still play on it if I wanted to, but I would only be about 80-percent going into the season," Nance said. "He said I could get the surgery now and be back two months before the season starts so I'll be 100-percent when I come back."
Surgery does not worry him as he expects to be back better than ever, and offseason workouts are going well for Nance and his Trojan teammates.
"We're doing well," he said. "Everyone is working out in offseason and getting better and ready for next year."
