Abner Logan enjoyed time in Raleigh

Four-star athlete Abner Logan has had NC State, Maryland and Northwestern as his favorites for sometime. He took his first official visit last weekend while the Wolfpack beat archrival North Carolina, 13-0. The nation's No. 242 prospect was impressed by what he saw at Carter-Finley Stadium during his trip.

"It was excellent, I enjoyed it," the 6-foot-1, 212-pounder said. "It has the atmosphere of big-time football, you kind of have to experience it to know it. It was a real, real live [environment] and it was a packed crowd. Up here, you don't really see a crowd like that unless you're at a Patriots or Celtics game. Boston College doesn't get packed crowds like that, the NC State fans really packed the game so that's real nice, I would love to play in front of something like that.

"I got to learn more about the coach and NC State, how they do things. I was also talking with some of the other recruits and why they chose NC State, as well. It's a really good place, it's definitely a favorite right now."

The senior from Brookline (Mass.) Dexter is ranked by as the No. 3 prospect in his home state and the No. 20 outside linebacker nationally, although he is being recruited by the Pack at running back.

"I've only played running back for two years and to be recruited at running back is a real honor," he said. "I love playing and am leading my league right now in touchdowns and yards, so I'm doing pretty well.

"They said they wanted a big back and they don't have one in the system so hopefully I can come in there and make an impact."

Logan was hosted on his visit by senior running back Curtis Underwood, Jr..

"Curtis was a real good dude, had knowledge of the game and we could connect on things that we're both going through," he said. "He showed me a good time with the Wolfpack."

Although the two-way prep standout admitted NC State impressed him, he isn't ready to make any decisions until he has seen his other two favorites: Maryland and Northwestern.

"NC State are one of my favorites right now, but I want to take my visits," he said. "I can't judge a school before I visit there, that's the only way to get a better feel for the place.

"I am scheduled to go to Maryland on Dec. 9 and then I don't know [when], I haven't scheduled my trip to Northwestern. I'm probably going to decide sometime in December after my visits."
