Miles' sixth offer comes as a surprise

After already receiving five scholarship offers, West Mesquite junior safety Kameron Miles got his sixth one seemingly out of the blue Thursday afternoon from TCU.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound safety already held offers from Ole Miss, Northwestern, Texas Tech, Oregon State and UCLA and had visited Baylor and Oklahoma.

But he had no idea he was being looked-at so closely by TCU.

"I wasn't expecting an offer from them yet," Miles said. "I didn't know they were looking at me that much."

Miles said one of the Frogs' coach's comedy really stuck with him.

"I talked with (co-offensive coordinator) Rusty Burns a lot," Miles said. "I had a good time talking to him because he has a good sense of humor. He's real nice and a cool person."

Miles plans on visiting TCU in two weeks. He hasn't visited the Fort Worth campus since his freshman year when he went to a spring practice.

However, he is good friends with Frog freshman quarterback Treyvone Boykin.

"I talk to him on some weekends and he says he loves it there," Miles said about his relationship with Boykin.

The safety also played some on the offensive side of the ball while running the Wildcat offense, posting 201 yards on 25 carries with five touchdowns.

On defense, he had 85 tackles, four interceptions, including a 95-yard pick-six.

He racked up 12 tackles and two interceptions in the Wranglers' final regular season game.

As far as when he will make his decision, he's just trying to take the recruiting process slow and remain humble.

The four-star safety is planning to visit Texas in a couple weeks and said he would like to play against the high level of competition in the Big 12.
