Huggins Calms Sooner DT Concerns

DALLAS -- Bob Stoops is a big fan of saying 'you get who you're supposed to get' in recruiting. After a few weeks of tough recruiting news, particularly in the Dallas metroplex the Sooner coaching staff kept plugging away and came away with arguably their biggest defensive commitment to date, both literally and figuratively.

That's because on Friday Dallas Skyline four-star defensive tackle Kerrick Huggins became the Sooners first commitment in the class of 2013. The 6-foot-4, 283-pound Huggins, a long-time Texas A&M commitment, recently visited Oklahoma and afterward felt that perhaps he had made a decision before seeing the rest of his options.

"Really it was because I looked and when I first went to A&M I fell in love with the school before I visited other schools. When I looked at OU it seemed like a good place for me and coach (Jackie) Shipp is a good coach for me," Huggins explained on Monday afternoon at Skyline high school.
