Spartans add high upside Georgia DE/TE

Corey Johnson had an interesting dilemma one Saturday afternoon this past fall in Stone Mountain, Ga.

The restaurant he'd gone to for lunch had five TVs showing five different college football games and he soon realized there were alumni of Stone Mountain's Stephenson High playing in every game.

"I didn't know which one to watch," said Johnson, who coaches linebackers and handles much of the recruiting legwork for Stephenson's football team. "After a few minutes, I realized I had five different TVs to choose from and about 15 kids between the five TVs on different teams. We've got kids at Purdue, kids at [Connecticut], at Maryland ... they're scattered all over the place. When it comes down to it, our kids are willing to go wherever the opportunity exists."

One of those opportunities this season was in East Lansing, Mich., for Stephenson senior defensive end/tight end Montez Sweat, who recently gave a verbal commitment to play for Michigan State.

Sweat, a two-star prospect in the Rivals database, is pushing 6-foot-7 and played his senior season for the Jaguars around 230 pounds. After not playing football as a junior, concentrating instead on basketball, Sweat came back to the gridiron as a senior and opened quite a few eyes.
