Speedy WR Marvin Bracy commits to the 'Noles
ORLANDO - Blazing. That's one word to describe Boone's Marvin Bracy.
This afternoon, the Rivals250 wide receiver and two-sport speedster announced that he will be headed to Tallahassee next fall. The newest Seminole becomes the 14th commitment in FSU's 2012 class.
Bracy chose FSU over Texas A&M, LSU and Florida. "I picked FSU because that was the school I honestly felt comfortable with from the very beginning. I have a great relationship with the entire staff and I know for both football, track I can make a solid impact, "explained Bracy.
Last month at the USA Nationals in Oregon, the rising senior ran a blistering 10.05 in the 100-meter finals, which went down as the second best all-conditions time ever for an American high schooler. What makes this feat even more impressive is Bracy took up track just a year ago. "Track has been special to me because it's competition so my drive as a player only goes up higher every time I run," said the four star receiver. "That meet at Oregon gave me a lot of confidence to take what I did and have a strong performance at the Pan Am games."
Despite his talent as a sprinter, Bracy declared football will be his first priority in college, but plans to be a part of the track team as well. So it was no surprise when the four-star wide receiver looked for a college that had the best of both worlds - a championship football and track program.
"FSU has everything. I couldn't ask for a more perfect fit for me," he said. While all of his finalists had storied football and track histories, Bracy decided on FSU because of his comfort level. "From the very start FSU offensive line coach Rick Trickett treated me as a person so we developed a strong bond. Every time I was there for a visit I didn't want to leave, "said Bracy.
Earlier this month, he mentioned that all of his finalists were even and he had no leader. But Thursday is when the Seminoles picked up one of the quickest around. "I knew after seeing them in the Chick-fila Bowl game that was where I wanted to be," said Bracy.
