Aggie 25: #15, Ryan Swope

After a solid freshman season, Ryan Swope became a major part of Texas A&M's offense in 2010. As the Aggies' leading slot receiver, he tied for the team lead in receptions and was second in yardage and touchdown catches; he was also a major target for quarterbacks Jerrod Johnson and Ryan Tannehill on third down. His role in the offense will likely expand further this season, making him a one of the 25 most important players to the Aggies' 2011 success.

High School Career:

A three-star running back out of Austin Westlake, Swope wasn't overly recruited when he signed with the Aggies in 2009. He had scholarship offers from Duke, Baylor, Colorado State and Texas Tech, but the Aggies were in on him early and received his verbal commitment in March 2008.

A&M Career:

Looking for a way to best utilize Swope's speed, the Aggies moved him to receiver the instant he arrived on campus. He played in 12 games as a true freshman, starting one, and caught 19 passes and a touchdown. His production exploded in 2010, as he caught 72 passes for 825 yards and four touchdowns.

Moving forward:

Swope is now established as a primary receiving target in the Aggie offense and will service as the team's top slot receiver this season. With offensive improvements across the board, the reliable receiver has the potential to break the 1,000 yard barrier during his junior campaign.
