Rivals250 OT enrolls at Auburn
Patrick Miller has had a last-minute change of plans and enrolled in classes at Auburn instead of LSU, AuburnSports.com has learned.Dwyer (West Palm Beach. Fla.) Rivals250 offensive lineman
Miller had been committed to LSU for the past four months and expected to enroll at LSU for the spring semester. Instead, he is at Auburn.
Miller said Auburn was a better choice for him "as a person," citing a close relationship with Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes, who was his main recruiter. He also mentioned incoming freshman quarterback Zeke Pike and offensive lineman Shane Callahan, who both enrolled early with Miller this week.
"I know I had a better chance to play earlier here," Miller said. "My relationship with coach Grimes, I talked to him a lot. We have a good relationship. I know he knows a lot about players like me, offensive linemen that are tall. He can relate to how I play. I just figured that Auburn was the better choice. I've visited here before. I'm friends with Zeke Pike and Shane and all them, they're good guys, so that made this decision easier."
Three other members of Auburn's 2012 recruiting class, four-star quarterback Zeke Pike, four-star offensive lineman Shane Callahan and four-star linebacker Javiere Mitchell enrolled and began classes this week.
Miller, 6-foot-7, 280 pounds, gave his pledge to LSU on Sept. 9 after a heated recruiting battle that involved Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Miami, and more.
Rivals ranks the 6-foot-7, 280-pound Miller as the nation's No. 218 overall prospect and No. 27 offensive tackle. The Dwyer High School standout played left tackle this fall, helping his squad to a 9-1 regular season record.
Miller is commitment No. 16 for Auburn's 2012 class, and the ninth member of the Rivals250 to commit to the Tigers.
