A new offensive line prospect has surfaced who has just recently been receiving Oklahoma interest and his name is Chance Allen. Allen is a 6-foot-5 and 295-pound prospect out of Klein (Texas) Collins who is listed as a tackle but says the Sooners are currently recruiting him as a guard.

Allen holds offers from Kansas State and Lamar so far and has been receiving interest from Kansas, Rice and Tulsa as well. Just recently though, at the beginning of Allen's spring break, he started hearing from the Sooners and offensive guard/centers coach, James Patton.

Less than a week later after hearing from Patton the first time Allen decided to make the trip north to Norman.

"They just started showing interest at the beginning of spring break and I visited Wednesday (March 15) or Thursday (March 16)," Allen stated.

Like many prospects that have visited Oklahoma over the years the Klein Collins product mentioned the lay out of the campus as something that stood out to him during his visit.

"I really liked it a lot," he began. "I liked how the campus was laid out and I loved all the facilities. I felt like it was a really good visit and I had a really good vibe there."

Allen, who says he is a good student classroom was joined on the visit by his mom who liked what she saw during the visit as well. One thing in particular his mother likes about Oklahoma is that should Allen end up a Sooner he has an aunt and uncle that live in nearby Edmond, Okla.

"She liked it a lot. She liked the fact that I would be really close to family so if anything happened I could just go up there and not have to drive six or eight hours to get back home," Allen said.

While on campus Allen got the chance to watch the Sooners practice and also sat in on team meetings where he got to see what type of coach Patton is. And it sounds like he liked what he saw out of the coach handling his recruitment.

"I really like him. I think he is a great coach, I mean I would like to play for him. I feel like he is a cool guy and a cool coach from what I could see at practice," he said.

An offer was not made while Allen was on campus and he was given the same message the Sooners have been telling many other prospects as far as what the plan is moving forward.

"He just said that he really likes my film and that he is going to be coming down to my spring football to evaluate me. And then he will let me know how he feels about me when that time comes," he explained.

Allen kept it pretty simple when breaking down his strengths and weaknesses as an offensive lineman.

"My strengths are my run blocking and staying under control. And the things I probably need to work on is I guess my pass protection because we are really a running school so I just need to work more on that," he stated.

Allen has now visited Kansas State, Oklahoma and Rice and says he has plans to visit Kansas and Tulsa soon. Allen was invited to attend the Sooners spring game on April 14 but says he is not sure if he will be in attendance.

Atmosphere and coaching will be two factors that play into Allen's decision which he says he would like to make sometime this summer.
