Live In AC - Day Two

EGG HARBOR, NJ - Day two of Live In AC featured a talented 2015 guard, the continued re-emergence of a fallen star, a sleeper big man in the class of 2014 and a number of mid-major talents who stepped up to the plate with tons of college coaches watching on.

Matthews Could Be Next Great Chicago Guard

He has great size at 6-foot-4, penetrates the paint, uses his pullup jumper when needed, gets teammates involved and uses his unique frame to his advantage. 2015 combo guard Charles Matthews has a great career ahead of him. Usually with Chicago Meanstreets on the Nike circuit, Matthews suited up with his high school, St. Rita's (IL), as they played as the Chicago Mustangs in Atlantic City. With a similar body and game to Penny Hardaway and Jeremy Lamb, the Chicago native holds offers from SMU, Arizona, Providence, Illinois and DePaul. Along with that, the likes of Michigan State, Purdue and Iowa are watching on and evaluating. After being on the Illinois campus, there are hopes on Matthews' end that he gets to take a trip to SMU in August because of his relationship with assistant coach Jerrance Howard and his presence within the state. Matthews may visit Arizona, as well. With impressive length and frame for a young, unchizzled guard, there is no doubt that Matthews is drawing quite a buzz in the midwest.

Brennan Becoming High-Major Target

Last year, Ty Boswell hyped his players, Jared Terrell and Abdul-Malik Abu of Expressions Elite (MA). Terrell, now ranked No. 31 in the Rivals100 for 2014, and Abu, ranked No. 66 in the Rivals100 for 2014, are absolute beasts with dozens of offers. Next in line is their equally talented teammate, Alec Brennan of Milton Academy (MA). The 6-foot-10 power forward is creating so much buzz that Duke called earlier in the week. With that being said, Brennan has become more aggressive, is shooting the three-ball with confidence, and has been making much better decisions in the post. Currently holding offers from Seton Hall, Providence, St. Bonaventure, Iowa State, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Brown, UMass, Rutgers, St. Joseph's, Delaware, Duquesne, Miami and Boston U, Brennan is in line to be one of the top faceup fours in his class. A high-academic student athlete, Brennan says academics will play a big factor in his decision, but will not make him lower his opportunities when all is said and done.

Colbert Flourishing Once Again

This summer has been a blessing for Austin Colbert , a former top-10 player in the class of 2013. As the Team Final talent started out as one of the more highly acclaimed freshmen in the nation, his lack of aggression and mentality to settle for jumpers hurt his stock. Now ranked No. 73 in the Rivals150, Colbert has made a few changes and is ready to earn respect back. As the rising senior is no longer settling for jumpers and is constantly aggressive in the post, a fire has been lit under the former St. Patrick talent. Now he must make some major decisions as a high school choice is on the horizon, along with college. Colbert will announce in a few weeks where he will spend his senior year - Gill St. Bernard's or The Patrick School (St. Patrick) - with the simple goal of continuing to improve after a tough junior year at Hotchkiss (CT). As Illinois and Memphis are his latest offers, the 6-foot-9 power forward also holds offers from Temple, Baylor, Florida, Miami and Seton Hall, with Texas and Vanderbilt tracking him. Colbert hopes to get down to Miami in the fall and is even in talks with AAU teammate and friend Davon Reed about the possibility of playing together at the U, or even Memphis. As he will be home for his senior year, there will be more time for Colbert and his family to checkout colleges. The 2013 talent wants to visit Baylor, Texas, Memphis and Illinois before making a decision on his final destination. Look for a refined list to come out following a high school decision for the player who has a shot at the pros.

Live In AC Mid-Major Recruiting Tidbits - Day Two

2013 Jersey Shore Warriors duo Amar Stukes and Steve Smith make a heck of a duo on the AAU circuit and in high school. Could they play together in college? Stukes thinks so. The point guard told Rivals.com there was a "70 to 80 percent chance" that the two go as a package deal to Fairfield, with Binghamton as another option. St. Bonaventure, La Salle, Florida Atlantic, Rider, Drexel, Albany and Quinnipiac have also offered the talented point guard. If he chooses to go to college by himself, Stukes acknowledged that he would probably play on a higher level.

2013 big man Zac Tillman currently holds offers from James Madison and Monmouth, with NJIT on the heels of offering. Niagara, Fairfield and Quinnipiac are also involved with the 6-foot-9 285 pounder from Team Phenom (PA).

2013 guard Keith Kirkwood says LIU is coming on the strongest as he will likely spend an official visit on the Blackbirds' program. Charlotte, New Hampshire, Jacksonville and St. Peter's have also offered, along with interest from Yale, Fairfield, Lehigh, Davidson, Navy and Quinnipiac. The Sports U talent would be very interested if Davidson and/or Yale were to offer in the future.

2013 small forward Leroy Fludd is being carted by a variety of high and mid-major schools as Rutgers, Providence, Xavier, Kent State, Iona, Iowa, St. John's, South Carolina and USC all like the Juice All-Stars (NY) talent. Fludd will end up at either IMG Academies (FL), Brewster Academy (NH), South Kent Prep (CT) and Mack Academy (NC).

2013 big man Kentrell Brooks is having a strong summer with the New York Lightning, and it has shown. James Madison, Marist and Monmouth have offered, while Quinnipiac, Dartmouth, Duquesne, Penn, Brown and Wagner are interested. After rapidly improving since the winter, expect for Brooks to play major minutes for St. Anthony (NJ) during his senior year.

2013 small forward Xavier Lundy of Team Phenom is making strides in his game as he holds offers from James Madison, St. Joseph's, Quinnipiac and LIU. Lundy admits that the James Madison staff is showing a bit more interest than anyone else as the CAA school wants him.

2013 wing Rich Williams is having a big tournament as he landed offers from Manhattan, Canisius and St. Peter's on Friday. The New York Lightning player also holds scholarships from St. Bonaventure, Kent State and Duquesne. Marist, Central Connecticut State and Hofstra are also involved, but simply showing interest as of now.
