Aggies assembling elite class

Texas A&M is putting together its best class since Rivals.com started doing national rankings in 2002 with three five star rated prospects, two of them ranked among the top ten prospects in the country.

All three -- defensive end Myles Garrett (second), quarterback Kyle Allen (seventh), and receiver Speedy Noil (21st) -- moved up after their performances in post season all star games. Allen was already a five star coming out of the summer when he wowed observers during the Rivals.com Five Star Challenge against the best in the country. In fact, he was rated as the top drop back quarterback in the country. However, he was one of the dominant offensive players in the Army All American Game making all types of throws both under duress and in the pocket and even returned after an injury to lead his team to a late touchdown.

Garrett moved up to five star status prior to the Under Armour Game based on his performance as a senior at Arlington Martin high school. He recorded eight and a half tackles for loss in a single game when he moved inside to play defensive tackle. However, as everyone witnessed during the Under Armour game, Garrett's natural position is defensive end as he had four tackles for loss including a sack early in the game working against the country's best offensive tackles.

Noil achieved five star status after the Under Armour Game where he had two catches for 80 yards. He had a 64 yard touchdown reception on a catch and run but was equally dynamic on a shorter route in which he caught a skinny post and either broke tackles or eluded tackles to a 16 yard gain. He made plays in every practice during the week leading up to the game and he looks to have the size to be able to line up outside and the quickness to be able to play out of the slot as well.

With three five star prospects in the fold and two of them (Allen and Noil) already on campus as mid term enrollees, the Aggies are ranked fifth nationally. Given the fact that the Aggies are still in on several four star prospects who are in the process of taking visits such Jenks, Okla. safety Steven Parker and River Ridge, La. Kenny Young, A&M is making a run at potentially having a top three class in the country.
