Four Star DE Picks The Aggies
The Texas A&M Aggies have been on a heck of a tear on the recruiting front since the end of spring. Since May 28, head coach Kevin Sumlin and staff have added eight commitments to the 2015 recruiting class, including four 4-star prospects.
Despite the busy summer, the last commitment for the Aggies came right at a month ago as Tarpon Springs (FL) kicker Daniel LaCamera pulled the trigger the same day he was offered. On Friday that changed as they add yet another top prospect in the state of Texas in 4-star defensive end James Lockhart.
The Rivals250 defensive end amassed an impressive offer list throughout his recruitment, including Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Texas and a host of others. In the end he had narrowed his choices down to two schools and chose the Aggies over Alabama on Friday.
Lockhart had developed a strong relationship with several other Aggie commits he met through the camp and recruiting process and made several unofficial visits to College Station including one in the last week.
Lockhart becomes the first defensive end in the Aggies current recruiting class and joins Richmond (TX) George Ranch defensive tackle Kingsley Keke and Gladewater (TX) defensive tackle Daylon Mack as defensive line commits.
In 2013, as a junior, Lockhart finished the season with 122 tackles and was an AP Second Team All-State selection at the 4A level. He is the 13 ranked strongside defensive end by Rivals.com and landed at number 19 in the initial AggieYell Top 100 released in March.
