Aggies add top target in Hoza Scott

Texas A&M started developing its wish list for 2014 recruiting several months ago, and one of their first offers went out to La Porte LB Hoza Scott.

Today, as has been anticipated for a while, Scott took the Aggies up on their offer, becoming the fifth member of the 2014 class.

The 6 foot, 2 inch, 205-lb. Scott hasn't been shy in saying the A&M has been at the top of his list, saying multiple times since this spring that the Aggies were ahead of the likes of Alabama, LSU, Florida, Orgeon and Texas on his list. More recently, he's been even more vocal about his desire to be part of the A&M program, mentioning that he wants to be part of the "Aggie family."

A four-star recruit with a very real possibility of earning a fifth star between now and 2014 national signing day, Scott brings a combination of speed and aggressiveness to the Aggie defense that could be used in several different ways.

"They're looking at me at both outside and inside," he told AggieYell.com, adding that he was fine with playing either position.

Scott said the Aggies' move to the SEC was one of the factors that made his decision easy.

"They made it to the SEC and proved a lot of people wrong," the 6 foot, 2 inch, 205-lb. linebacker said. "They know how to play hard-nosed football, I know that."

The idea of winning an national title also played into his reasoning.

"It's very important," he said. "They can compete for a national championship."

Scott, who has developed a close relationship with running backs coach Clarence McKinney, said the rapport between the two worked strongly in A&M's favor. So did the developing rapport between the young linebacker and the 12th Man.

"They have the best community ever," he said. "Everyone around there, they already know me. They're saying, 'Hey, Hoza.' It feels good."

Scott is the fourth four-star to join the 2014 class, along with defensive backs Cedric Collins, Nick Harvey and running back Varshaun Nixon.
