After signing day next Wednesday, the Texas A&M coaches will have two of the state's best 2016 running back prospects joining the program. But things weren't always considered such a success at the position until late into the process.

Stratford (Texas) running back Rakeem Boyd committed to the Aggies in late August and continued adding new offers throughout the season. Some programs have even offered Boyd within the past two weeks.

With committed prospect across the nation reopening their recruitment and taking official visits this time of year, many have wondered where things stand with Boyd and Texas A&M.

"I'm staying home, I'm staying with A&M," Boyd said. "I will sign with A&M next week. There were coaches really pushing me to take official visits this month, but I decided that my recruitment was over. The A&M coaches and I have a great relationship, that made the decision easy for me.

"I had new offers from Missouri and Colorado this month. I had coaches from Michigan, Arkansas, and Florida come to see me at the school as well. They all wanted me to officially visit and learn more about their programs. I thought about taking visits, but decided that my commitment to Texas A&M and the coaches was solid."

Boyd will take his official visit to College Station this weekend and is looking forward to spending time around the Aggies' coaching staff again.

"I already know a lot about the campus and we looked into the academics during my last visit, so this time I really just want to spend time around the coaching staff," Boyd said. "I know a few other visitors will be there too. I'm also looking forward to showing my family around and getting the official visit experience."

Rated a four-star prospect, the 6-foot, 195-pound back is the No. 8 overall running back prospect in the nation and the No. 37 prospect on the Rivals.com Texas Postseason Top 100 for the 2016 class. He chose the Aggies over nearly 20 other FBS offers, including offers from Michigan, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Boyd finished with just under 1,400 yards and 19 total touchdowns rushing - earning the District 19-5A All-District MVP this season.
