Busy June for A&M Recruiting

Texas A&M has been hot throughout the month of June rolling in commit after commit, and in some cases two at a time.

Sunday's barbecue in College Station sparked the next round of commitments starting with Fort Bend Marshall four-star offensive guard Barton Clement.

Then on Monday the Aggies solved a need at defensive end with the commitment of New London (TX) West Rusk High School three-star athlete Tyree Wilson.

Wilson attended the Aggies June 4 camp, and the A&M staff recognized the extreme upside that came with Wilson's size and speed. An offer was quickly extended.

Two weeks later the 6-foot-5, 225-pound prospect and his mother made a return trip to Aggieland.

"I was there on Saturday before the barbecue and was given the tour of everything," said Wilson. "The facilities were great. The stadium is massive. I've never been to a game there; and yes ma'am that is something I definitely plan on doing."

Then on Sunday Wilson and his mother attended the Aggies BBQ.

"My mom and I talked about it, and on Monday I decided to commit," he said. "I called the coaches and they were proud; they were happy and excited."

Several members of the 2018 A&M recruiting class reached out to Wilson on twitter reacting to his commitment. Wilson said he's excited to get to know them and at this point he's spoken with mainly the older players.

"I spoke with Trayveon Williams and several of the guys," he said. "They said A&M is a great place and it's home. I felt it too, that's why decided to commit.

"The coaches see me at defensive end. It's exciting. The players that have been there, Myles Garrett..it's a lot on my back, but it's motivating."

Wilson is putting his focus now on West Rusk and his future team, the Aggies.

"I'm not taking other visits," he said. "I am shutting my recruitment down."
