Newsomes profile increasing after Aledos state win

One of the fastest rising names in the 2015 class in Texas is Aledo athlete Ryan Newsome. At the state championships last weekend, Newsome had six rushes for 91 yards and a touchdown to go along with his one catch for 28 yards and another score. Newsome, who serves as Aledo's quarterback, may be better known as a return specialist as he had eight special teams touchdowns this season, enough to gain a lot interest from many programs across the nation as he holds eight offers currently from programs such as Baylor, Clemson, Oklahoma, and UCLA, to name a few. His performance also helped Aledo to the 4A state title game and a 38-10 victory over Brenham.

"It really meant a lot to come out here and get this win," he said. "This team went through so much this season and we were able to come together to make this happen really was special."

Now that Aledo's record-breaking season is over, Newsome's recruitment should kick into high gear, something he's looking forward to. Newsome said he has really enjoyed his recruiting process as more team come into the mix, like Texas A&M and special teams coach Jeff Banks, who has started to pay attention to Newsome.
"Texas A&M came to one my games last week to see me in action," he said. "Coach Banks told me he heard about me breaking the record for most returns in Texas and almost breaking the national record and I really am liking Texas A&M and hope they offer."
Newsome a five foot, nine inch, 171-pound athlete is also hearing from two other schools and thinks they're close to offering as well.
"Alabama and Oklahoma State have shown a lot of interest in me as well," he said. "I think those two along with A&M are the three closest schools to offering me next."
As far as his offseason plans go, Newsome looks to take it easy and is really going to do one combine this offseason.
"I'm going to do the US Army All-American Combine in January," he said. "After that I will just work hard at the school because at this moment, I do not plan to do any college camps this summer."
Newsome is ranked as the 45th overall athlete in the nation and is ranked 60th in the state according to Rivals.com.
