Aggies see plenty of offensive targets in Rivals 250

A few years ago, Texas A&M could look at the Rivals 250 and see players on their way to Texas, Oklahoma, LSU or even Oklahoma State or Arkansas.

Times have changed. When the Aggies look at this year's Rivals 250, they see four players already committed and a number of other very viable targets on the board. Here's a look at some of the offensive players on the 250 A&M has offered:

Quarterback: Justice Hansen, Edmond (Okla.) Santa Fe (Number 140). At 6'3" and 200 lbs. Hansen is the only quarterback the Aggies have currently offered. They're not alone; OU, Arkansas and Arizona State have also offered.

Running back: Varshaun Nixon, Lake Travis (220, committed); Leonard Fournette (3), New Orleans St. Augustine; Joe Mixon, Oakley (Ca.) Freedom (82). Nixon is one of, if not the best running backs in Texas for 2014 and a good fit to A&M's loaded backfield. Judged as possibly the best high school back since Adrian Peterson, the 6'1", 225-lb. Fournette already has 15 offers from major programs nationwide. Mixon is another big back and has even more offers than Fournette, with more than 20 already.

Wide receiver: KD Cannon, Mount Pleasant (52); Trey Quinn, Lake Charles (La.) Barbe (102); Speedy Noil, New Orleans Edna Karr (104). Cannon is a speedster with more than 1,000 yards receiving as a sophomore and offers from the likes of Texas, OU and Clemson already under his belt. Quinn is a burner as well (4.39 second 40-yard dash) who runs fluid routes and may have the best hands in the class. Clemson, LSU and Ole Miss are also in pursuit. Listed as an athlete, Noil (a high school quarterback), will likely be a wideout at the next level. He's got offers from Alabama, Texas, LSU and Notre Dame, but the Aggies may have the inside track with him right now.

Tight end: Jacory Washington, Westlake (La.) (110). Committed to LSU, the 6'5", 210-lb. Washington is similar in size to A&M signee Ricky Seals-Jones (slightly less in weight) and would probably be used in a similar fashion had he decided on A&M.

Offensive line: Braden Smith, tackle, Olathe (Ks.) (19); Andy Bauer, tackle, St. Louis Desmet (92); Casey Tucker, tackle, Chandler (Az.) Hamilton (71); Garrett Brumfield, guard, Baton Rouge University Laboratory School (131); Demetrius Knox, guard, Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal (88). Smith, already huge at 6'6" and 275 lbs., could be the most sought-after offensive lineman in the nation and has already visited A&M once. At 6'6" and 304 lbs., Bauer has already started to narrow his options with LSU, Alabama and home-state Missouri in the lead. Tucker has already committed to USC, limiting A&M's options in the 250 (but they've already picked up Kealvin Davis at tackle). At guard, Brumfield has offers from Florida, Florida State and that school across the street, but insists he's open. Knox committed to Texas early on.
