Jones never thought he would fall in the prototypical SEC type of athlete category, that is until Texas A&M offered him.
"When the offer came through it was a big deal," said Jones. "I've always thought that I am not big enough or fast enough for the SEC because people always told me that you have to be big or fast for the SEC. I believed them, but now I know that I am big or fast or something that they like. I like Texas A&M because they spread the ball. I like the way they use Speedy Noil."
The The 5-11, 160-pound prospect worked out on both sides of the ball at the Rivals Challenge. He won MVP at cornerback, and on offense he made impressive cuts finding ways to get open or leaving other members of the red team open. During one-on-ones, Jones won all but one of his reps, and during seven-on-seven he helped take his team to the championship game.
"Jones is known for his ability to light it up on both sides of the ball, but Saturday his focus was on defense and he rose to the occasion," said Woody Wommack. "Jones has long arms and quick feet, and he was in the hip pocket of every receiver he went against in one-on-ones. He takes gambles at times but his ball skills allow him to take some risks that lead to big rewards."
