High school: Pearland Dawson

Height/Weight: 6 foot, 210 lbs.
2012 statistics: 284 carries for 2,185 yards (7.69 YPC) and 28 TDs; 8 receptions for 137 yards and 1 TD.
Awards/Recognitions: 4A First Team All-State; Houston Chronicle's First Team All-Greater Houston
Why the Aggies wanted him: When White committed to Texas A&M on Feb. 19, 2012, the Aggies were looking for a power back with speed who could handle the SEC. Considering he already had an offer from Auburn on the books, it was clear other people thought he fit the bill as well. A powerful upright runner, White doesn't shy away from contact and has the balance to keep his feet after a first collision. If he gets into the open field, as evidenced by his 7.7 yards per carry and 28 touchdowns, he's not going to be caught from behind.
White wasn't the first running back to commit to A&M for the 2013 class -- Johnny Jefferson was. But a short time later, the Aggies cut Jefferson loose and didn't try very hard to replace him. They had the guy they wanted.
Likelihood of playing in 2013 (5 being probable starter, 1 being near-certain redshirt): 3. After starting the summer closer to a certain redshirt, White has already shown the talents that made him the best running back in Texas 4A last year. Even though the Aggies are loaded at running in 2013, White may be the real power back A&M's been looking for.
