Meet the new guys: Kyrion Parker

As Texas A&M's fall camp draws closer, AggieYell.com will introduce each of the players who are arriving in College Station this summer. Next up: wide receiver Kyrion Parker.
High school: Manvel

Height/Weight: 6'2", 190 lbs.
2012 Statistics: 46 catches for 951 yards (20.7 yards per catch) and 13 TDs
Awards/Recognitions: 4-star prospect, members of the Rivals 250; Named 22-5A first-team All-District, 5A All-State Honorable Mention, and 5A All-Region III second-team; Offense-Defense All-American.
Why the Aggies wanted him: With the Aggies losing Ryan Swope, EZ Nwachukwu and Kenric McNeal (and, as it turned out, Thomas Johnson), Texas A&M was in dire need of adding some talent at wide receiver. Parker, who emerged from virtually nowhere to become a 4-star prospect, fits that bill. As his nearly 21 yards per catch indicates, Parker is not just tall, but he's strong and fast as well. Perhaps more importantly in A&M's case, he played in a system at Manvel that bears more than a similarity to the offense the Aggies run. As a result, Parker may be one of the six freshman wideouts most ready to play at the start of the 2013 season.
Likelihood of playing in 2013 (5 being probable starter, 1 being near-certain redshirt): 4. The Aggies are going to need a number of the freshman receivers to contribute, and sooner as opposed to later. Parker, as mentioned, may be one of the ones most prepared to make an immediate impact. If he is, indeed, ready to go, he provides Johnny Manziel with another big target to go with the likes of Mike Evans and Ricky Seals-Jones.
