AggieYell.com's series on the key members of the 2021 Texas A&M football team continues with linebacker Aaron Hansford.
Class: Super Senior
Spring Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 240 pounds
2020 stats: 49 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3 sacks in 9 games
Projected 2021 role: Starting linebacker
Hansford forced his way into the starting lineup last year and had an excellent season, becoming a force across from Buddy Johnson. His size and speed make him an interesting prospect, but his injury history and lack of playing time held him back. After some hesitation, he decided to return for a sixth season. He picked up right where he left off in the spring game, with 5 tackles, 3 passes defensed and 2 quarterback hurries.
Hansford enters 2021 as one of the leaders of a potent, but still somewhat young, defensive group. A strong final season at A&M may not only help the Aggies into the College Football Playoff, but lead to a big payday for Hansford in the 2022 NFL Draft.
