Texas A&M has worked its way back to the front of the line for 4-star safety Antonio Johnson. But can the Aggies land the talented 2020 prospect from East St. Louis, Ill.? That's the big question.
Johnson, who made a surprise commitment to Tennessee a few months ago, made it clear at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge that he would take an official visit to A&M this fall. It turned out he didn't wait that long; he showed up for A&M's pool party two weeks ago and de-committed from the Vols before he even got home.
So where do things stand now? In an interview with Rivals.com's Josh Helmholdt, Johnson had plenty of good things to say about the Aggies but made it clear he wasn't going to rush into another decision. Other SEC powers also remain in contention for him.
So will he end up at A&M. A lot of people think so. In a story released today, Rivals analysts concurred that the Aggies probably have the lead for him, and while Tennessee is still in the mix, they've fallen back to the pack.
