A look at how AM could close the 2013 class

Texas A&M's current list of commitments sits at 15. If all the commits stick - and, after last year, we know nothing is certain even though no current commits have plans to visit elsewhere - the Aggies have, at least, 10 spots to fill. Here's a look at the recruiting landscape for A&M at this point:

Quarterback

Committed:

· Kohl Stewart

· Kenny Hill

Targeting:

None. A&M was only seriously interested in two quarterbacks in the 2013 class and, with the addition of Hill at the Maroon and White Game, has them. Both are four star prospects and A&M now also has insurance in case Stewart (a potential high draft pick) goes the professional route in baseball.

Running back

Committed:

· James White, Pearland Dawson

· Tra Carson, a transfer from the University of Oregon, would also count in this class.

Targeting:

· Corion Webster, Atlanta. Has been busy with track, so he hasn't been able to look at many schools this spring. But his leaders appear to be A&M and TCU. A&M's position: Good

· Dontre Wilson, De Soto. Oregon and Texas appear to be his leaders, with the Ducks pulling away from the competition. A&M's position: Back in the pack

Wide Receiver

Committed:

· Cedar Hill's Laquvionte Gonzalez and Quincy Adeboyejo

· Rosenberg Terry's Derrick Griffin

· Goose Creek Memorial's Jamar Gibson

Targeting:

· Santa Monica, Calif.'s Sebastian Larue. Larue is in no hurry to commit anywhere, and is literally getting offers from every part of the nation. But he was impressed by his trip to A&M and has a very good relationship with Marcel Yates, which should keep the Aggies in it for a long time to come--if not to the bitter end. A&M's position: solid

· Dallas Skyline's Ra'Shaad Samples. This was expected to be a three horse race, with A&M fighting with Texas and Texas Tech for the talented receiver. But it now appears to be more of a battle between Tech and A&M, with Texas falling out of the competition. Receivers coach David Beaty has done a strong job making A&M's case, and the Aggies feel comfortable with their standing. Position: Very good

· Fort Worth Southwest's Robbie Rhodes. He'll be visiting A&M next month, but will visit Texas first. Position: To be determined

Offensive line

Committed:

· Birdville's Joas Aguilar

· Dallas Jesuit's J.J. Gustafson

· Dallas Bishop Dunne's Ishmael Wilson

Targeting:

· Katy Seven Lakes' Caleb Benenoch. Benenoch has a ton of offers from around the country, but has been committed to Michigan State for a couple of months. One issue there: he's never visited East Lansing and has said he feels like he may need to be closer to home. He has visited A&M and was impressed; A&M feels confident in their chances with him. Position: Good

· Fort Bend Marshall's Maurice Porter. Porter says he's wide open, but there's no indication A&M's pushing hard at the moment. He wasn't at the spring game, for instance. Position: Back in the pack

Defensive End

Committed:

· Rockwall Heath's Jay Arnold

Targeting:

· Alief Taylor's Torrodney Prevot. Prevot's current favorites are the schools that have shown him the most attention to this point - A&M, Texas, and LSU. But more schools are showing interest by the day such as Oregon which could delay his decision until the fall. Position: solid

· Baton Rouge University's Tim Williams. LSU leads. Position: Back in the pack

· Lancaster's Daeshon Hall. He's committed to Texas, but he's already been to A&M once. Texas, of course, will try to shut down any repeat visits, so A&M will have their work cut out for them to get him back, flip him and keep him. Position: still up in the air

Defensive Tackle

Committed:

· Carthage's Isaiah Golden

· Skyline's Kerrick Huggins

Targeting:

· Houston Westside's Hardreck Walker. Walker has A&M and Tech as his favorites and came close to committing at Friday Night Lights. The Aggies would like to get him quickly, as his national standing is skyrocketing and should continue to do so. Position: Very good

· Hutchinson (Kan.) C.C.'s Toby Johnson. Got his first glimpse at A&M last weekend and will return for another look on an official later. Position: in the mix and improving

· Dallas Kimball's Justin Manning. Has been very quiet on his front, but he is expected to visit A&M for a camp this summer along with Oklahoma, LSU, TCU, and Texas. Position: Solid

Outside Linebacker

Committed:

None

Targeting:

· Fort Bend Marshall's Deon Hollins Jr. Hollins is a UCLA commit, but he's visited A&M once and said he'll be back. A&M could flip him, but they'll have to work hard to convince him their system is a fit. Position: Probably second, but with plenty of work to do

· Port Allen (La.)'s Darian Claiborne: A&M's his solid leader. Position: Very good

· Bartow (Fla.)'s Freddie Stevenson. Stevenson has A&M and Western Kentucky at the top of his list. If it remains between those two, it's hard to see any other outcome besides and A&M commitment. Position: Very good

· Plano's Mike Mitchell. Says he's open, but looks like A&M and TCU may be ahead of the pack right now. Position: Solid

Inside Linebacker

Committed:

None.

Targeting:

· Hutchinson (Kan.) C.C.'s Kenny Flowers. Liked what he saw last weekend and said he'd be back. The school to watch for here is Georgia which is where he is originally from.Position: in the mix and improving

· Sharpstown's Reggie Chevis. Houston has put on the full-court press going into the summer. However, the longer this plays out, the more A&M's position improves.Position: Strong second

· Dallas Jesuit's Jordan Mastrogiovanni. It's an A&M-Notre Dame fight, and A&M probably has nosed a little ahead. Position: very good

Safety

Committed:

· Alief Taylor's Jonathan Wiggins

· Rosenberg Terry's Victor Davis.

Targeting:

All targets are out of state and A&M has made little headway.

Cornerback:

Committed:

None.

Targeting:

· Fort Bend Dulles' Maurice Smith. He has A&M in his final four (A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma), and the Aggies are the only in-state school in the mix. He's the guy they want most at this position in this class, and he's the only one left with an offer. If the Aggies can't get him, they may just move on to locking down some of the elite corners in the 2014 class. Position: Good

Slightly less likely, but still very possible, includes:
